In photos: Funnel cloud spotted forming in the skies over Brean

-

These were the scenes over Brean on Friday when a funnel cloud was seen stretching out of the sky.

Dave Furber took these photos on his mobile phone of the cloud forming at 12.45pm.

He told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “It was an amazing sight that was visible for about 15-20 minutes. It disappeared into the clouds and then reappeared several times but was clearly a funnel cloud.”

“It’s the second time this year I have seen one of these clouds – the first was back in July when several people saw one over Stert Island.”

Funnel clouds are rarely-seen formations of condensed water droplets associated with a rotating column of wind and extending from the base of a cloud but not reaching the ground or a water surface. If they touch the ground, they become classed as a tornado.
