Crowds flocked to an outdoor arts festival at Highbridge’s Apex Wildlife Park during Saturday (July 14th).

The annual event, called ‘Denizens of the Deep’, was run by Highbridge and Burnham Artists and benefited from a day of mostly dry weather.

Local artists had worked in schools, youth clubs, residential homes and their own studios to make a range of colourful sea creatures for a sculpture trail which was set up around the park.

The festival, now in its fifth year, also included many free arts activities, including events to make your own sea creature and try out painting in addition to art and photo workshops, competitions, exhibitions, drum workshops and live music. Sculptures on show were made from natural materials, such as driftwood, willow and pulp.

One of the organisers, Sue Hammond-Lovatt, told Burnham-On-Sea.com the festival had been a success and thanked all those attended and supported it.

She added that many of the festival’s exhibits will also be on display at Burnham’s Princess Theatre on July 28th from 10am-4pm during a special craft fair.
