A woman was rushed to hospital after being rescued by Burnham-On-Sea fire crews when a half tonne round bale of hay toppled onto her on Thursday (December 1st).
Fire crews from Burnham-On-Sea, Cheddar and Wells plus local paramedics were called to Portmeade Drove in Axbridge at 2.20pm.
The woman, aged in her 50s, was trapped underneath the bale and crews used a manual lift to free her before ambulance crews took her to Musgrove Hospital.
A fire spokesman told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “A very large bale of hay had rolled on top of her and pinned her at the waist and legs.”
“She was understandably in a lot of a pain and, given that this is a remote location, it was very fortunate that she was able to call the emergency services for help.”
“We cut the bale into smaller pieces to free her to enable the ambulance crews to help her.”
