A Burnham-On-Sea man has this week raised hundreds of pounds for charity by having his head shaved.

Matt Smith raised more than £530 on Wednesday evening (August 20th) during his sponsored head shave for Macmillan Cancer.

“I’ve done this because my mum has been diagnosed with breast cancer and I wanted to raise funds for the charity,” he explained.

Matt, who is an instructor at Burnham and Highbridge Karate Club, held the event at King Alfred School where he was supported by the group’s members plus family and friends.

“My head feels rather odd – and much colder than normal – without my usual hair there, but it’s been worth it to raise such a great amount,” he said.

Matt and mum Julia thanked all those who have supported the fundraising. Further funds can be donated online bia
