Police launch huge search for wanted man in Highbridge

-

Police launched a huge search operation in Highbridge on Saturday (November 27th) after a wanted man fled from officers along railway tracks and across fields.

Police were called to the town’s railway station at around 11.30am after the 18 year-old man – who is wanted for multiple offences – was spotted by an off-duty police officer boarding a train from Bridgwater to Highbridge.

“Police were called to Highbridge Railway Station to meet him, but when the train pulled in, he managed to run away down the tracks and across the fields and is still being sought,” Inspector Roger Tolley of Burnham Police told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

A police helicopter hovered overhead in the search for the man, who has been named by police as Michael O’Neil from Highbridge.

Five police cars were also involved in the search operation in the town. The man is wanted in connection with several offences, including failing to appear at court for trial.
