Burnham-On-Sea’s Hillview Carnival Club has this week begun building their cart from their new home in Highbridge and an appeal has been issued for more helpers.

The volunteers have started to strip down last year’s float in order to decorate it during their special 40th anniversary year.

As first reported here, Terry Rickards, the owner of Burnham Waste, recently gave the go-ahead for the club to use a large sheltered area on his site in Highbridge to build the entry.

Mark Bishop, Hillview’s Chairman, told Burnham-On-Sea.com this week: “We’re delighted to get the building work underway at our new home.”

“We’re very keen to hear from any former members who would like to help us build the entry in this special year or newcomers who would like to get involved. We particularly need carpenters and people that can help with building work.”

“It will be a tight schedule to get it all done in time and we need as many helpers as possible.”

The club’s work has been delayed while it desperately searched for a new location to build the entry, having previously been based at Woodberry Brothers & Haines.

Readers can get in touch with the club via Burnham-On-Sea.com here.
