Public meeting to be held in Burnham on Hinkley expansion plans

-

EDF’s plans for a new nuclear power station at Hinkley Point will be in the spotlight later this month when public meeting to discuss the proposals will be held in Burnham-On-Sea.

The Hinkley Point Community Planning Day will be held on Thursday 29th April from 4pm – 8pm at Burnham’s Princess Hall.

Residents will be able to drop in anytime during the evening and share their thoughts about all aspects of the proposals.

The event is being run in conjunction with Sedgemoor District Council, West Somerset Council and the Community Council for Somerset to gather local views.

The discussions will help to inform the Local Impact Report which the two local authorities are required to prepare.

The community engagement programme objectives are to ensure the community has a comprehensive understanding of the scale and nature of the EDF proposals, and allow local people to discuss the impacts of the Hinkley proposals, how these could be mitigated, and what planning conditions and/or obligations could be put in place.
