A Burnham-On-Sea charity set up in memory of a teenager who took his own life is to hold a training course on mental first aid this week.

Charley Marks, 18, took his own life in September 2014 and the charity ‘In Charley’s Memory’ was set up in his name to support young people and those affected by mental health.

The course – Mental Health First Aid – starts on Wednesday and will help people to spot the early signs of mental health, help others with mental health problems, prevent self-harm, help sufferers to recover, guide people to support and reduce the stigma around mental health.

“Thanks to generous funding from Somerset Skills & Learning we have our first Mental Health First Aid Course coming up, it is only £30 per person,” said a spokeswoman.

“It starts on 9th March from 9am-1pm and runs for four mornings on March 9th, 10th, 16th & 17th at our base at the Manor House in Burnham’s Manor Gardens.”
