Hundreds of people supported a fundraising Christmas craft fair on Saturday (November 24th) held in aid of a charity that was formed in memory of a Burnham-On-Sea teenager.

The event was held at the Ritz Social Club in Burnham where over a dozen stalls were set up for visitors to buy Christmas presents and help In Charley’s Memory.

In Charley’s Memory was set up after Charley Marks took his own life, aged 18, in 2014 and the charity now supports and helps hundreds of young people plus those affected by mental health.

The event was timed to coincide with the Burnham-On-Sea Christmas lights switch-on outside and had a steady flow of visitors through the day.

In Charley’s Memory’s Dawn Carey told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We had a very busy day and even opened early because people were queuing outside! A big thank you to everyone who supported us on Saturday.”

She added that 122 young people aged 11-25 have received direct help and support from In Charley’s Memory this year, up from 72 last year. And the charity has also spoken to more than 2,000 students about mental health issues in the Burnham-On-Sea area through the year, offering help and advice.
