Inclusive Rainbow Pride Service to be held at Burnham’s St Andrew’s Church

-

An Inclusive Rainbow Pride Service is to be held at Burnham’s St Andrew’s Church to mark the close of international Pride month.

St Andrew’s is holding the inclusive service on Monday 30th June at 7pm in the church.

Ruth Ackroyd, from Pride on Sea, says: “We are deeply moved by the incredible support shown by our community, and especially grateful to St Andrew’s for hosting this inclusive Rainbow Pride service.”

“Visibility, unity, and love are more important than ever, and moments like this remind us how powerful it is to stand together in celebration and solidarity.”

Associate Vicar of St Andrew’s, Reverend Sharon Eldergill, adds: “Following the success of a similar service last year, St Andrew’s is delighted to host an inclusive Rainbow Pride service, in partnership with Pride on Sea, celebrating the diversity and wide- ranging giftings of the people of Burnham.”

“We recognise that whilst we are free here to celebrate the freedom of the LGBTQ+ community, there are nevertheless places in the world where this freedom is not available, and so Pride remains an important symbol of justice throughout the world.

“Justice, love and compassion are the hallmarks of the Christian faith, and the service gives us an opportunity to come together in a beautiful church that has served the people Burnham-On-Sea for over 7 centuries, by offering a warm welcome and expressing the love of God for all people.”

“The service will be followed by rainbow cakes, gifted by PJ Harris, tea and coffee.  Please come along to celebrate our unity with prayer, praise, candles and the love of God at this friendly and fun service.”
