Almost 120 fun runners were in a festive mood when they took part in Burnham-On-Sea’s annual ‘Jingle Run’ on Sunday (December 20th).

The popular event is held each year on the Sunday before Christmas and was once again well supported with very mild weather conditions.

Many of the runners came dressed in colourful Xmas costumes for the two fun runs which were organised by Burnham Swim and Sports Academy.

The main four-mile run saw 48 runners wend their way along the seafront to Apex Park and back.

The race was won by Keron Summers from Weston AC in a time of 22:13 while the first Burnham runner was Matt Powell who finished in fourth in time of 26:11.

A shorter one-mile fun run also took place in which 71 runners jogged along the beach from Maddock’s Slade to the jetty and back.

That race was won by Oliver Chatting from Burnham Tri Academy in a time of six minutes with the next local finisher fellow Tri Academy runner India Porter in third.

Among the fancy dress outfits were Santa suits, reindeer and colourful Christmas elves! The one-mile results are here and the four-mile results are here.

Martin Rogers from Burnham Swim and Sports Academy told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “It was a great event – we had a good turnout of runners dressed in some super costumes. Everyone had a fun time and the weather was perfect for us. Thanks go to everyone who came along.”
