A helicopter, a horse and a fire engine were among the more unusual modes of transport used by pupils from Highbridge’s King Alfred School to arrive in style at their end-of-term prom on Friday night (June 1st).

200 Year 11 pupils flocked to Rookery Manor for the school’s annual dance, as pictured here.

The competition to attract the most attention was intense, with stretch limousines and classic cars among the vehicles used.

But Ollie Scott, Chris Jones, Ashley Benton and Jack Beard flew to the prom from Bristol Airport in an eye-catching helicopter that landed in a field near the property.

Tyler Whitehouse, Zoe Matthews, Emily Furneaux and Lorna Picton arrived in style on a vintage fire engine.

And Jenna Picton arrived on four feet, riding Cadbury the horse.

A school spokesman told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “Excitement has been building for this night for several weeks. It’s an important day as it marks the end of the students’ time at the school. Many thousands of pounds will have been spent on the vehicles and outfits, and a great time was had.”
