A Burnham-On-Sea man who lost 15 stone in 15 months and is in training to climb up the Kilamanjaro next year has completed one of his most ambitious training sessions to date.

Burnham-On-Sea.com was first to report last month how Keith Mitchell of Winchester Road had twice won a National Slimathon competition in recognition of his efforts in slimming from 33 stone to 15 stone.

On Friday (October 9th), he clambered 1,038 metres up Snowdon, the highest mountain in Wales, as pictured here.

Walking with a group of work colleagues along the Pyg Track, he reached the summit in a time of three hours.

Keith told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “It was a great feeling to reach the top. The eight mile trek took us three hours in each direction and, although the weather was foggy and there was poor visibility, it was a fantastic day.”

“It was a great accomplishment and it didn’t really sink what I’d done until I was in the car going home.”

Keith, who also walked in the Brecon Beacons on the previous weekend, is completing a number of fundraising walks in advance of his Kilimanjaro trip in October 2010. He has raised around £400 for charity so far this year and more details about his fundraising work are on his web page here.
