Burnham-On-Sea lifeboat called out to two people cut off by tide

-

Lifeboat crews from Burnham-On-Sea were called out at 2.20am on Thursday morning (June 30th) to investigate two people cut off by the tide somewhere north from Kilve.

They were asked by Coastguards to carry out shoreline searches starting at Hinkley Point towards Watchet, with Minehead’s lifeboat searching the opposite side of the coastline.

Burnham’s lifeboats were en route and about 3 or 4 minutes away when a lady and gentleman were located by the Minehead lifeboat.

The Burnham crews were thanked for their support, and stood down by Milford Haven Coastguard Control.

They returned to Burnham jetty for recovery by the shore crew, and a wash-down at the lifeboat station.

Burnham-On-Sea Lifeboat Operations Manager Matt Davies said: “Our crews are available to launch 24/7, and are happy to help whenever required.”

The RNLI will be holding a volunteer recruitment day on Saturday 9 July, where interested members of the public can come along, without commitment, to find out how they can further support the charity – more details here.
