Burnham-On-Sea fire crews tackled a blazing car on the motorway, leading to long delays on Thursday afternoon (April 6th).

A fire appliance from Burnham-On-Sea was sent to the M5 southbound carriageway between junction 22 at Burnham and 23 at Bridgwater just before 2.15pm.

“On their arrival crews used breathing apparatus and compressed air foam to extinguish the fire,” said a spokesman.

“The cause of the fire was accidental which resulted in the vehicle being severely damaged.”
