Long queues on M5 after car overturns and ends up in ditch

-

Motorists faced long delays on the M5 on Saturday (August 2nd) after an accident saw a car leave the motorway.

Emergency services were called to the northbound carriageway between junction 24 for Highbridge and junction 23 for Bridgwater at 10am.

Fire, police and ambulance crews were sent to the incident, where a car had left the M5, overturned, and landed in a water-filled ditch.

“Crews confirmed all persons were free and clear of the vehicle and three casualties were handed to paramedics,” said a fire spokesman.

Police also attended to divert traffic around the scene and fire crews made the scene safe.
