Burnham motorists warned of five months of roadworks at M5 J23

-

Commuters travelling between Burnham-On-Sea and Bridgwater are set to face five months of delays as roadworks start at the roundabout next to junction 23 of the M5 motorway at Dunball.

Building work is scheduled to begin at Dunball on Monday October 2nd and continue until February 2018.

The work is being funded by EDF as part of a £20m programme of infrastructure investment linked with Hinkley Point C and is aimed at improving the traffic flow and reducing congestion.

The work will include the installation of new traffic lights, plus a new park and ride and freight management facilities at the M5 junctions 23 and 24 alongside other park and rides near Williton and Cannington.

300 spaces were recently opened at the new junction 23 park and ride, which will ultimately provide parking for over 1,000 Hinkley workers.

EDF says the work will be temporarily paused on the day of the Bridgwater Carnival.
