Burnham-On-Sea Mayor presents £500 boost to local youth charity

-

Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge’s Mayor and Mayoress have this week presented a donation of more than £500 to a local charity.

Bill and Frances Hancock handed over a cheque for £517.47 to Somerset Time For Youth during this week’s full Town Council meeting.

Donations were collected during the annual Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge Civic Service, held last October, and from a charity initiative at the town’s Christmas tree outside the Victoria Hotel.

Somerset Time For Youth offers social and leisure activities for local special needs young people from across the Burnham-On-Sea area aged 0-18yrs.

Cllr Bill Hancock named the group as his official charity of the year and has made helping local youth groups one of his key themes of the year. He is planning a fundraising evening at The Oaktree for the group on February 24th.
