Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge’s Mayor, Cllr Michael Clarke, has issued his annual Christmas message to residents.

In it, he looks back at a busy year of events across the two towns and wishes residents a happy Christmas.

Michael, pictured with Mayoress Maria Clarke, says: “As this festive time approaches, and most of us prepare to spend some truly quality time with our friends and family, we also look back over the past year and remember the good things and the bad that have shaped the last year for us all. For me once again, it has been a privilege to spend time with so many in our community. Those for whom the spirit of community is so strong, those for whom the tireless dedication and hard work is often not recognised, those for whom creating a pleasure and a purpose for others is something that they do so very well. We are all very fortunate to have these people in our community.”

“Sadly, not all can be so involved in our community, and to those whose life or circumstances have changed for the worst, I send my thoughts and prayers at this Christmas time.”

“With Christmas day rapidly approaching, most of us shall be busy getting ready for a day of celebration with our family and friends, a day that I hope will bring happiness to all. And as we look forward to the New Year, with our resolutions and plans, we look forward to the future and all that it may hold.”

“I mentioned at this time last year that the years seem to pass by more quickly, and this one has been no exception, but once again hopefully next year will give us enough time to accomplish all we want to. I wish you all a very merry Christmas and a happy new year.”
