Walkers are being invited to take part in a fundraising beach walk today (Sunday) to support families affected by Alzheimer’s disease.

The annual Brean Challenge fundraising walk will start at 10am on Sunday (May 27th) and will comprise of a 15 mile walk from Burnham Pier to Brean Down and back.

A shorter 7.5 mile alternative is also being offered from the entrance of Berrow Beach and a return to the pier.

Organiser Mike Barsby told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “Alzheimer’s can affect anyone and statistics show one in four people know or have known someone with Alzeimer’s or dementia.”

“By raising funds for the Alzheimer’s Society I hope that more support can be provided for families affected by Alzheimer’s as well as allowing the society to continue its research for a cure.”

Medals will be awarded to the first five walkers who arrive at Brean Down Cove and all participants will be presented with a certificate.
