Burnham-On-Sea Coastguards, BARB and RNLI crews were called out in the early hours of Tuesday morning to join the search for a missing person.

Crews were asked to help police in a search for a missing man on a beach in an area to the east of Hinkley Point soon after midnight.

A Burnham lifeboat was launched from Burnham beach and a BARB hovercraft was also being prepared for launch when the crews were stood down by Coastguards at 12.15am when the man was found.

“The missing man was found, both wet and cold, and was subsequently taken to hospital by police,” said a spokesman.
