New convenience store opens on Highbridge’s Morland Estate

A new convenience store has opened on a housing estate in Highbridge this week.

Sedgemoor District Council has announced the completion of a new 10-year lease for 20-24 Morland Road to allow the new shop, Best One, to open.

The shop unit had been unoccupied for 12 months after previously trading as the Highbridge Furniture Store until the new tenant, Mr Parameswaran, arrived.

Council spokeswoman Claire Faun told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “The new venture is great news for the residents of the Morland Estate who now have a handily available convenience store on the estate for the first time in three years.”

“Since the initial enquiry some two months ago the Council has worked hard to turn around a tentative enquiry to a completed lease in just over eight weeks. We wish Mr Parameswaran good luck in this business venture,” she added.
