Burnham-On-Sea’s MP James Heappey has visited the town’s lifeboat station to meet RNLI crewmembers and to see the station’s new D Class lifeboat.

“We are so fortunate to be protected by this amazing crew at Burnham’s RNLI station,” said Mr Heappey afterwards.

“I’m grateful to them, and all the other volunteer emergency services in the town, for all the time they so selflessly give and the risks they take to keep us safe whilst enjoying the coast.”

He added: “We should all be particularly proud that the new lifeboat has been funded by the incredible generosity of Burnham residents. I know the new boat will play its part in saving many lives over the years to come.”

Mr Heappey has been invited back to participate in a training exercise in the spring.
