A brand new painting of HM The Queen has been unveiled this week in Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge Town Council’s chambers.

Mayoress Frances Hancock unveiled the painting at the front of the chambers in Burnham’s Jaycroft Road during the latest Town Council meeting on Monday night (November 12th).

Mayor Bill Hancock told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We are delighted to have been given permission to display this recent portrait of Her Majesty painted by a member of Burnham’s community art group at The Princess Theatre.”

“The artist, Val Hunnisett, is unable to attend tonight but she is delighted to have her artwork on show in the Town Council chambers.”

He added: “While this is not actually an official portrait, we have received written agreement from Buckingham Palace to display this contemporary, colourful and flattering portrait of Her Majesty.”
