Burnham-On-Sea hospital re-opens following Norovirus outbreak

-

Burnham-On-Sea hospital has this week re-opened to new patients after an outbreak of Norovirus was brought under control.

Burnham-On-Sea.com first broke the news in February that the sickness bug had shut the main ward at the hospital in Love Lane.

The hospital put in place additional cleaning and infection control measures in an attempt to stamp out the sickness bug and was this week given the ‘all clear’ to re-open for new patient admissions.

“The advice from hospital staff is that normal infection control measures are still important and members of the public visiting patients are still asked to ensure they wash their hands thoroughly on entering the hospital and to use the anti-bacterial hand rubs before entering the ward areas,” said NHS Somerset spokesman Paul Courtney.
