Police have appealed for witnesses following a crash on Friday afternoon in which a young child was taken to hospital with leg injuries after a collision on a pedestrian crossing in Highbridge.

A woman and another child were also injured in the collision, although they were not taken to hospital.

Police and ambulance crews were called to the crossing in Church Street near the junction with Coronation Road at just before 12.30pm.

A spokesperson for South West Ambulance Service said: “We were called to a car pedestrian crash at 12.25pm.”

“There were two young female casualties. One of the girls sustained injuries to her face and the other sustained an injury to her leg, she was taken to Musgrove Park Hospital in Taunton for further treatment.”

The driver of the car was interviewed by police at the scene. Any witnesses to the incident who have not already spoken to the police should contact them on 101.
