Dozens of people attended a book signing session by Burnham-On-Sea author Damien Boyd on Saturday (June 14th) as he launched his new new crime thriller.

Damien was signing copies of Blue Blood at an exclusive pre-launch event at GW Hurley in Burnham-On-Sea High Street, as pictured here.

Blue Blood is being released officially on Tuesday 17th June and will be available in ebook, paperback and audio formats.

Announcing the new release, author Damien Boyd said: “DI Nick Dixon’s wedding night is over before it begins in Blue Blood, the new thriller from the bestselling DI Nick Dixon Crime Series.”

“Readers are cordially invited to Nick and Jane’s wedding, at long last. It really was a joy to find myself writing those scenes, and I hope they’ll both be very happy!”

The popular series of crime thrillers follows the exploits of Nick Dixon, now an acting detective superintendent in the Avon & Somerset Police, based at the police centre at Express Park, Bridgwater.

The fourteenth novel in the series, From the Ashes, was published in June 2024.

“I must confess, I found the research a touch disturbing this time. The ease with which a 3D printer can produce a workable firearm is quite horrifying.”

“I had a lot of fun with the What3Words app too, and the geographic coordinates used in the book are all real, except for Nick’s cottage in Brent Knoll. Follow those coordinates and you will find yourself visiting the Burnham-On-Sea Low Lighthouse. A lovely spot and well worth a visit!”

Damien added, “It is Acting Detective Superintendent Nick Dixon’s wedding day. Gig rowers find a body floating in Bridgwater Bay and when the victim is identified as a serving police officer, executed at point blank range with a 3D printed gun, the assistant chief constable is soon knocking on Dixon’s door—wedding night or not.

It is the third such killing in as many weeks, but the first two victims were drug dealers, with no apparent connection to the dead officer other than the murder weapon itself.

Dixon must navigate a complex web of lies, corruption and betrayal. Taking charge of two major investigation teams, it quickly becomes clear that no one is who they seem. But is it two cases or just one? Is he looking for a motive that doesn’t exist? And can he find the gunsmith before another 3D printed gun finds its way into the wrong hands?”

Damien Boyd is a bestselling crime novelist.  His series featuring DI Nick Dixon has sold over three million copies worldwide and has been translated into several different languages.

Damien produces stories based on his own experience from twenty-five years in the legal profession, including a spell in the Crown Prosecution Service. His debut novel, As the Crow Flies, was published in April 2013 becoming an international Kindle #1 bestseller.

The sequels, Head in the Sand, followed by Kickback, Swansong, Dead Level and Death Sentence were all critically acclaimed, with Heads or Tails and From the Ashes achieving Kindle #1 bestseller status in the UK.
