Crowds of people headed into Burnham-On-Sea town centre on Saturday (June 7th) when dozens of vintage and classic vehicles went on display for a popular annual show.

Cars, commercials, bikes and electric cars were displayed at the Burnham Classic and Vintage Vehicle Display, organised by Burnham Chamber of Trade with the support of Bridgwater Classic and Vintage Club.

Crowds of spectators headed to the event despite a day of occasional rain showers.

A Burnham Chamber of Trade spokesman said: “It was a very successful day, boosting footfall in the town centre. Our thanks go to everyone who attended and supported this popular annual event. Special thanks go to Bridgwater Classic and Vintage Club, plus all the wonderful volunteers and Burnham Carnival for their work with road closures.”

Burnham’s Mayor Cllr Mike Facey, who judged the entries, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “It was great to see many people out in the centre of Burnham enjoying this annual event. My thanks go to the organisers, spectators and all the volunteers for making this a successful day.”

He picked a 1957 Ford Consul as the vehicle he would most like to take home and presented owner Shaun Matthews with the Burnham Chamber of Trade Trophy.

“It’s a wonderful car from my era,” said the Mayor. “It’s in immaculate condition and the presentation is perfect. It’s great to see vehicles like this on display.”

During the day, the spectators also enjoyed performances by Rock Choir and Burnham and Highbridge Town Band.
