Plans to introduce a new Burnham and Highbridge Youth Awards scheme have been postponed for a year due to the Coronavirus pandemic, it has been announced.
Town councillor Dawn Carey told fellow councillors at a virtual meeting last week that the ceremony to reward local young people for their community work has been delayed to 2021.
“The decision has been made to postpone the youth awards – we are now looking at April next year,” she said.
“The Plan B didn’t really cut it. Our youngsters need their special day.”
She added that no money has been spent on the project so far and that the plans will roll over to 2021.
