Police are investigating a “suspicious” car fire that took place in Highbridge last night (Thursday).

Fire crews from Burnham-On-Sea were called to Walrow in Highbridge at 8.20pm after a resident reported a vehicle alight.

Police were also called as crews believed the fire to have been suspicious ignition.

A Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: “We received a call from a member of the public reporting a car on fire.”

“One fire appliance from Burnham-On-Sea was immediately mobilised by Fire Control.”

“On arrival, the Incident Commander confirmed that one vehicle was well alight and crews got to work using a hose reel to extinguish the fire. Police were informed as the cause of the fire was deemed to be suspicious.”
