Thousands of poppies have been sold in Burnham and Highbridge during the run-up to today’s Remembrance Day over the last few weeks.

Volunteers from local groups and businesses have got involved in the annual Burnham poppy collection in aid of the Royal British Legion.

They include local army cadets, the Burnham Poppy Appeal team, local businesses and MP Tessa Munt, right, and Burnham Conservative James Heappey, all pulling together to help raise funds.

A special effort has been put in this year, to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the First World War.

Gaynor Brown of the Burnham Poppy Appeal told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We’ve had great support this year and thank all those who have collected for and supported the appeal by buying poppies and giving donations.”
