Burnham-On-Sea lighthouse contest postcard entries win praise

-

The winners of a competition to design a postcard to celebrate Burnham-On-Sea’s mini lighthouse trail have been anounced this week.

The contest, overseen by members of Highbridge and Burnham Artists (HABA), was open to five local schools.

“The young entrants all worked incredibly hard and produced work of a very high standard,” the group’s Sarah Berryman told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

“We are excited to see the talent shown by all the young people who entered – it was really difficult to narrow down the winners.”

“We originally intended to have one winner per school but when we saw how wonderful the designs were we had to double the number of winners!” she said.

“We thank all the schools for their incredibly enthusiastic and supportive response.”

The winners were presented with a framed and mounted copy of their winning design during a ceremony held this week.

The cards will be on sale initially at BIARS, the Burnham tourist information centre, and additional merchandise will be added soon.

The winners from each of the schools are as follows:

Brent Knoll School: Hannah Johnson, Milly Smith

St. Josephs RC Primary School: Kaitlin French, Rudi Budd

St Andrews C of E Junior School: Freja Fleuriot, Ellie McDonnell

Churchfield Church School: Daisy May Farr, Connie Paterson

Berrow Primary School: Caitlin Kelly, Simon Spriggs
