Power cut leaves 122 Highbridge homes in the dark after car crashes into sub-station

-

Over 120 properties in Highbridge were without power on Saturday evening (December 15th) after a car crashed into a power sub station in the town centre.

Police and Western Power Distribution were called to Market Street at 5.15pm, as pictured here.

A car had struck the side of the sub station opposite the Coopers Arms, causing damage and cutting power to 122 properties and knocking out the traffic lights on the Walrow rail bridge.

The motorist, who was unhurt, said he had tried to avoid a vehicle coming in the opposite direction when he struck the sub-station building.

Western Power Distribution apologised for the disruption to customers.
