Mean burglars have stolen a charity collection box, a laptop computer and money in a break-in at a beauty salon in Burnham-On-Sea this week.

Prim N’ Proper in Abingdon Street was broken into overnight between 9pm on Monday night and 9am on Tuesday morning.

The intruders forced open the front door, as pictured here, to gain entry.

Owner Sarah Glaysher told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “It’s so sad that someone would do this. They stole a laptop, some change from our till and, incredibly, a MacMillan charity collection box.”

“I’m disappointed, frustrated and shocked that someone would actually steal a collection box for a cancer charity.”

She added: “The police have collected some fingerprint information and have also carried out door-to-door enquiries in the area.”

“I would ask anyone who saw anything suspicious to contact Burnham Police on 101 if they can help.”

The salon was closed all day on Tuesday and Sarah lost a day’s takings because she was unable to re-open until after the police had finished their work. The shop is now back open again today.

The front door was damaged when it was forced open during the break-in.
