A group of Highbridge businesses has called for improvements to travel information at the town’s railway station.

Highbridge Chamber of Trade says its members are concerned that visitors arriving at Highbridge Railway Station struggle with little information.

Eileen Shaw, secretary, said: “At a recent meeting, members expressed concern that visitors arriving at Highbridge Railway Station who don’t know the area are struggling to make their onward journey to Burnham as there is no information at the station.”

“People have been seen waiting for a bus at the now redundant bus stops in Market Street.”

The group is therefore asking the Town Council to approach local authorities to put extra signs in place at the station displaying bus routes and locations, and contact numbers for taxi firms. The group has also asked for signs to be placed at the defunct bus stops.

The Town Council’s Town Projects Committee is due to consider the request at its meeting next week.
