A Burnham-On-Sea shop faces a huge £10,000 bill for repairs following a ram-raid on Friday morning.

As we first reported here, a car slammed into The Laptop Shop in Burnham High Street at 5am and the occupants then stole laptops and iPads. Two people were later arrested by police.

But shop owner Nigel Ashworth told Burnham-On-Sea.com this weekend: “The burglars caused a lot more damage than first thought.”

“There has been structural damage to the inside of our building that will have to be repaired, in addition to damage to stock and display furniture.”

He added: “We were refused planning permission for security shutters by the council, so we’ll be revisiting that again. We need them in place for the future.”

He added that his business insurance is expected to fully cover the costs.
