West Huntspill vicar raises £250 from sponsored pilgrimage to Wells

-

A vicar from the Burnham-On-Sea area has completed a sponsored pilgrimage from West Huntspill to Wells to raise money for two charities.

Reverend Geoffrey Walsh, Rector of St Peter & All Hallows in West Huntspill and All Saints in East Huntspill, walked from West Huntspill to Wells to raise £250 for the Children’s Society and the Diocesan Zambia Link charity ‘Kit for Kids’.

He began his pilgrimage at 7.15am outside St Peter & All Hallows in West Huntspill and followed a route across the moors through East Huntspill, Burtle and Westhay, stopping for a break at Wookey, where he met up with his wife Gloria in the support car.

The Rector arrived at the Bishop’s Palace in Wells at 2pm. There were a number of walkers in the diocese who were making this pilgrimage in aid of these charities from venues within a ten mile radius of Wells, including Andrea Moore of All Saints East Huntspill who joined the group starting from Wedmore.

“The pilgrimage was to end at the Bishop’s Palace where Bishop Peter, the Bishop of Bath & Wells was to officially greet them from 4pm, but unfortunately I was two hours too early for the Bishop!” Rev Walsh told Burnham-On-Sea.com.
