Over 2,000 young rugby players and their families attended a successful rugby festival in Burnham-On-Sea over the Bank Holiday weekend.

Youth rugby clubs from across the country took part in the 16th annual event, organised by Gullivers Sports Travel, at the town’s BASC Ground on Saturday and Sunday.

Organiser Neil Rayer from Gullivers said: “The weather has been great and the facilities here are perfect – the event gets better every year.”

“We had a bit of a panic last Thursday when we heard about the water problems in the Burnham area but we were relieved they were quickly resolved, allowing everything to go ahead as planned and a great weekend of rugby was enjoyed.”

Russell Dyson from Burnham Rugby Club added: “This is one of the country’s biggest junior rugby festivals and we are delighted that the event has returned to Burnham again.”
