New Highbridge running club River Brue Runners launches

-

A new running group has been set up in Highbridge to bring together all abilities of runners, including beginners.

The River Brue Runners running club was initially set up last September and is aimed at all runners, from newcomers and seasoned athletes.

Several of the group’s runners have completed 5k and 10k races with many of the group regularly attending the local Parkrun at Apex Park each Saturday. Two members are also training towards their first half marathons this year.

“We are a friendly running club with well-attended club nights where we meet and run as a group or groups, depending on ability,” said a spokeswoman. “Everyone is treated the same and no-one is ever left behind.”

“Each week we hold a steady club run for everyone and interval training sessions run by a qualified UK Athletics coach. Once a month we aim to hold a long run on a Sunday followed by tea and cake!”

“It is aimed at those who want to improve their running, as well as those who are just looking to make new friends in a controlled running environment. We welcome all newcomers of any ability.”

Sessions start at Churchfield School, Highbridge on Mondays and Thursdays at 6pm. All sessions are suitable for all abilities and levels of fitness.
