The carnival season might be over, but that’s not stopped members of Burnham-On-Sea’s Hillview Carnival Club building this special Christmas cart to transport Santa around local streets to raise charity funds.

The club’s members began a three-week tour of Burnham and Highbridge’s streets at the start of December, towing Father Christmas on a mobile sleigh, while collecting donations for Children’s Hospice South West.

And their cart will be on display today (Sunday December 8th) at Tesco in Burnham from 10am-4pm.

Duncan Britton, Hillview’s Chairman, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “This has become an annual tradition each Christmas time – and we always get such a wonderful support, with all the funds being raised for a really good cause.”

The club intends to visit every street in Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge before Christmas. Its sleigh, complete with reindeer, is accompanied by cheery festive music to ensure residents don’t miss the visits.

This year, Santa and the club’s sleigh will also be visiting local supermarkets during the month to further boost the festive fundraising: Burnham’s Tesco store on Sunday December 8th from 10am-4pm, followed by Sanders Garden Centre in Brent Knoll on December 14th from 10am-4pm, and Highbridge’s Asda store on December 21st from 10am-4pm.
