Secret World to hold open weekend during ‘busiest summer on record’

-

A wildlife rescue centre near Burnham-On-Sea will be opening its doors to the public this weekend during its busiest summer on record.

For the last open weekend of the year, visitors to Secret World Wildlife Rescue in East Huntspill will get a rare glimpse into the life of nature’s hunters including resident foxes, owls, birds of prey, bats and more.

Secret World Founder Pauline Kidner said: “Its been another record breaking summer with over 3,000 animals admitted this year so far.”

“We are hoping that visitors will come and see the work that is carried out at our centre for the last time this year as we will not re-open until Spring 2015.”

Doors will open on August 23rd, 24th and 25th August from 10am-4.30pm. There will be half hourly talks taking place throughout each day plus a chance to feed foxes, see ferret racing and meet some of the resident animals cared for at the centre.

Admittance to the centre will be free but donations will be welcome, as will tins of cat food to help feed Secret World’s growing family of orphaned hedgehogs, foxes and badgers who are getting through over 100 tins a day!
