Dr Seuss characters come alive in Burnham-On-Sea theatre show

Horton the Elephant, the Cat in the Hat, and other beloved Dr. Seuss characters will come to life when a Burnham-On-Sea musical theatre group performs ‘Seussical Junior’ next month.

Rehearsals are underway for the show by the members of Burnham Excellent Entertainment Society (BEES).

The performances will be held at Burnham-On-Sea’s Princess Theatre on June 6th and June 7th at 3pm.

The Cat in the Hat narrates the adventures of Horton, who discovers a tiny planet containing the community of Whosville on a speck of dust. Chock full of musical numbers, ‘Seussical’ transports the audience from the Jungle of Nool to the Circus McGurkus as Horton is tasked with protecting the Whos.

Tickets cost £7 and £5 and are available by calling The Princess Box Office on 01278 784464.

The cat is played by Izzy, Horton – George, Mayzie – Olivia, Gertrude – Rachael, Jo Jo – Katy, and the Sout Kanagaroo – Natalie.

The directing team are James and Sandy Ballantyne, while Vicky Adams is co-ordinator, Frances Webb is vocal coach, costumes have been created by Christine Hart, Set design by Luke Adams and choreography by Sarah Loveridge.
