These were the scenes when three stranded sheep were rescued by fire crews in Burnham-On-Sea on Thursday morning (May 21st).

A walker spotted the three animals in difficulty in a water-filled ditch in the fields next to the Frank Foley Parkway in Burnham shortly before 10.15am.

Emergency services were called to the scene and a fire crew from Burnham-On-Sea and a specialist water rescue team from Bridgwater fire station were sent to help free the animals, as pictured here.

Crewmembers wore drysuits and specialist safety equipment in order to reach the animals from the water.

The three animals were released unharmed from the water-filled ditch after several minutes.
