Brave Burnham Parkinson’s sufferer plans fundraising skydive

-

A Burnham-On-Sea Parkinson’s sufferer is planning a daring skydive to raise funds for a charity that helps people affected by the disease.

John Thatcher, 57, will undertake the skydive with the aim of raising over £1,000 for Parkinson’s UK.

The skydive will take place at Netheravon Airfield in Wiltshire on 9th April. He will be joined by 26 other Parkinson’s UK fundraisers.

John, pictured, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “As a Parkinson’s sufferer who is still fit enough to do most things, but forbidden by my doctor from climbing ladders, I’m determined to do as much as I can, while I can, to raise money for research into curing or preventing Parkinson’s disease.”

“If I’m not allowed to climb ladders then I shall have to take to the skies! At least I’ll be strapped to someone who knows how to get me down safely.”

Sponsorship raised will help fund the charity’s work to find a cure and improve life for those affected by Parkinson’s, which is a progressive neurological condition with no cure. To sponsor John, visit his fundraising web page here.
