Management from Highbridge-based speedway team the Somerset Rebels will be holding a fans forum at the Oaktree Arena this week to explain their decision to revert to the championship.
Following the news released from the British Speedway Promoters’ Association annual conference, the Cases Somerset Rebels management will be holding a fans forum at the Oaktree Arena clubhouse on Tuesday 20th November at 8pm.
Club owner and promoter Debbie Hancock told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We, as the club promoters, want an opportunity to explain to our fan base the reasoning behind our decision to drop down from the Premiership and return to second tier racing which we recognise may have come as a shock to many.”
“We also felt that there would be a number of questions that our supporters would have about the 2019 season and beyond and therefore decided it would be best to convene an evening where we can get together as a group, as soon as possible and have an open forum.”
“It will be a free-to-attend evening and Garry (May) and myself will do our best to front any questions that our supporters have.”
The Rebels spent the past two seasons in the top flight, but at this week’s conference confirmed they would be reverting to the Championship League which will feature Berwick, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Leicester, Newcastle, Redcar, Scunthorpe, Sheffield, Workington, together with two clubs who are expected to make the move up from the National League (third tier).
Somerset will continue to race their home meetings on Wednesday nights as the Premiership move to fixed race nights of Mondays and Thursdays.
