Burnham-On-Sea cyclist to pedal 100km in her father’s memory

-

A Burnham-On-Sea cyclist is to ride 100km for charity in memory of her father who died of a rare form of cancer earlier this year.

Sophie Duckett will take part in the ‘Exmoor Beast Cycle Ride’ on October 20th for Sarcoma UK after her father, Colin, passed away in June aged 52.

“My dad had a rare Sarcoma cancer which returned three times,” she told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

“This is why I have chosen to raise money for Sarcoma UK as I want to help them raise awareness of rare Sarcoma cancers and fund research and support for those who have been affected.”

“Dad was, and still is, a massive inspiration to me and very much enjoyed cycling. He took part in cycle races over Dartmoor several times, which has inspired me to follow in his footsteps and complete this 100km challenge over Exmoor in his memory.”

The route starts in Tiverton and goes over Exmoor to Dunster, round by Porlock, and back over Exmoor to Tiverton.

Sophie added: “I am very excited to be taking part in this event and am looking forward to the challenge of the course. This seems the perfect event to remember my dad and to support Sarcoma UK.”

To sponsor Sophie, Burnham-On-Sea.com readers can visit her Just Giving page here or sponsor £5 by texting ‘COLN52 £5’ to 70070. Sponsorship donations can also be dropped in at Ardwyn Channon Accountants at 12 Victoria Street in Burnham-On-Sea.
