Burnham-On-Sea’s St Andrew’s Church will be opening its doors this weekend for a flower festival as part of its ongoing 700th anniversary of the founding of the church.

Friday also saw a concert in the church offering an evening of music and song with contributions from King Alfred Band and Coastline Singers.

The church will be open on Saturday from 10am-4pm and, again on Sunday 28th, from 12 noon to 3pm for anyone who wants to drop in and enjoy the floral displays and enjoy some home-made refreshments.

Rev Graham Witts, the vicar of Burnham, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “These events are part of our ongoing celebration of our founding as a church and, along with the recently made labyrinth, is a sign that this is the church for all the people of Burnham, young and old, of any faith or none. You will receive a welcome here.”

In September, the church will host ‘An Evening with Terry Waite’, who was the Archbishop’s envoy to the Middle East and who was held captive in the Lebenon in the 1980s and has many stories to tell from his life. Terry has written a number of books and will be sharing some of his experiences with us.

The church will also be welcoming the new Bishop of Bath & Wells for his first visit to St Andrew’s. More details of these event nearer the time.
