There were patriotic scenes in Burnham-On-Sea on Sunday (April 23rd) when a parade was held to mark St George’s Day.

Over 30 people took part in the procession along the High Street, watched by flag-waving spectators along the pavements.

A pony and two dragons were among those taking part, alongside dancers and drummers, in the event organised by community group BEST (Burnham Events Social Team).

Mayor Cllr Michael Clarke told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “This was a superb parade – a great sign of community spirit – with a great turnout. A thank you goes to all those who took part and organised it – I hope it will grow over the coming years.”

BEST Chairwoman Kathy Jones said the event had been a great success. “We were delighted with the turnout – it went amazingly well in its first year and we hope to build on it in the future,” she said.

She thanked the Dancefit dancers, the BEST volunteers, Hands Of Change, the drumming Tiso family, the children, the Mayor and Mayoress, and Frank Cordery on his pony.
