Burnham-On-Sea charity shop to close down after 20 years in town

-

A charity shop in Burnham-On-Sea is to close down this week after 20 years in the town.

Tenovus Cancer Care’s shop in the High Street has announced that it will be shutting this Saturday (May 16th).

Retail Area Manager Helen Robinson explained to Burnham-On-Sea.com: “The premises we lease are due for renovation by the landlord and this would mean we couldn’t trade for several months. The rent is then due for increase beyond what is viable for us.”

“As a charity, we’re always thinking about the best ways to support cancer patients and their loved ones. This means making sure our shops, which are one of our major income streams, are as profitable as possible.”

She added: “We’d like to thank everyone in the local community who has worked, volunteered, donated or shopped with us over the last two decades. We really appreciate your support and hope you’ll continue to do so via other means.”
