Burnham-On-Sea fundraiser completes ‘Tough Mudder’ extreme race

-

A Burnham-On-Sea resident and local solicitor has faced his fears of water, heights, submersion and electrocution in order to raise funds for charity.

David Sinclair completed the gruelling 12-mile extreme mud marathon obstacle race called Tough Mudder on Saturday (August 20th).

The race is dubbed ‘extreme hell’ and is designed by British Armed Forces to test mental and physical strength, determination and ‘grit’.

Dad of three David, 38, ran it with and a team form Acorn Solicitors to help raise funds for Age UK Somerset and help thousands of elderly people.

After being overweight, David lost 2.5 stones by doing a few months of intense press ups, plank, tractor tyre flipping, battle ropes, load carrying, lunges, squats and more to get ready for the challenge.

David, a director of Solicitors for the Elderly, said: “It was an amazing experience. I faced all my fears of water, heights, submersion and electrocution in one go!”

“We really believe in helping charity locally so was delighted to be able to face this challenge knowing people will be helped at the end of it.”

Acorn is one of Britain’s biggest charity giving businesses for its size, raising and donating well over £50000 in the last 7 years.

Tough Mudder includes such elements as ‘Arctic Enema’ which is an icy plunge updated to include a high speed entry slide and centre wall you must duck under to escape 10 tonnes of ice jammed into a frigid skip dive.

Then the ‘Electroshock Therapy’ is the final short, muddy sprint in a field of dangling wires delivering a punch at 10,000 volts. To sponsor David and the Acorn Solicitors team, click here.
